
Tri-County CEO Tom Cranshaw
Tri-County President and CEO Tom Cranshaw has been named to the Kansas City Bi-State Health Information Exchange formational Board of Directors.
Announced Feb. 16, the board will guide the development and implementation of a regional health information exchange that will allow health care providers to share health information electronically. The effort is a key component in both reducing costs and improving the quality nationwide for health care, including mental health care.
The Kansas City exchange is designed to link the region’s hospitals, clinics, health departments, primary and specialty referral programs, and emergency service providers. The goal is to enable secure delivery of timely and accurate electronic health information to authorized users across organizational boundaries, improving the efficiency, accessibility and continuity of health care.

The new KCBHIE Board of Directors will meet in March 2010 and assume responsibilities for decision making related to the implementation of the regional health information exchange.
Previously, Cranshaw was elected as Vice Chair of the Kansas City Health Commission. He serves as chairman of the Metro Council of Mental Health Centers; Chairman of CommCare, a consortium of Community Mental Health Centers in the Kansas City area; and is on the Boards of Northland Healthcare Access, Crittenton, Swope Ridge Geriatric Center and chairs the Board of Triality, Inc.
